Help needed with catching 'cancels'

Hi
    I am wondering if someone could please explain to me how I catch
a 'cancel' returned from 'choose-file-dialog', so that a 'cancel'
response will not necessarily cause a return to the top-level.
      I am using MCL 1.3.2, if that is relevant.
