Debugger

Is there a way to do some action when an error occurs?
I tried setting *debugger-hook* but with no success...

My goal is to have MCL beep me (or maybe even use the
notification manager to post a nice error flag in the
applications menu!) when an error occurs. This would
enable me to continue working in other applications
while MCL is loading big softwares.

Thanks for any tips.
