Type option-8 in (almost) any font.
Use the "key caps" desk accessory to discover other cool characters.
Since MCL uses option as the meta character for text editing,
you have to actually type ctrl-q first to quote the character.
In other words, type ctrl-q option-8 to get a bullet in Fred.
