Well, I answered my own question. I dug through the archives and found
a bit about turning off the #_control async bit in %tcp-control, and
that made a world of difference. Went from reliably frozen machines to
reliable preformance. Thanks to Kalman Reti who originally posted that
fix. It made my (late) night!
