problem saving FRED windows

Has anyone else seen this problem: In some images I lose the feature of
FRED windows to update their save status. I save them, it writes the buffer
to disk correctly, but the little dagger in the title bar stays around and
if I close the window it asks if I want to save first.

Not crippling but annoying and confusing.
