problems compiling CLOS on akcl

I tried to compile CLOS (version 5-2-89) on a sun386i (SUNOS 4.0.1)
with akcl (version 1-257). I used kcl-low.lisp from the Austin
sources, and followed the suggestions by W. Shelter. The compilation
dies after compiling the first file (which is empty). The error is a
"C" stack pverflow. I believe this is a problem of the akcl compiler
for the sun386i. Any suggestions anybody (other than buy my version of
akcl, please).
