Running background lisp jobs.

Is there a way to run background lisp jobs in akcl?  We have tried simply 
compiling the intermediate C-files, but there are some variables which are 
undefined and the compilation does not finish.  Is there some special method
to do so?  Or are there any special include/library files?  We are running 
akcl version 1.592 on an IBM RS/6000 AIX 3.1.5.  We would like to run these 
jobs on multiple workstations without tying them up.

Any help appreciated.
