AKCL for the SGI

Does anyone know of a successful build of AKCL on the SGI (IRIS
running IRIX 4.0.5) that can in turn compile Lisp programs.  I have
compiled AKCL and I can get it to run, but not compile even the
simpilest programs.  This seems to be the experience of everyone that
I have spoken with.
