Next you're going to tell me that there is CHARARRAYCALL if I want to
use a character as an index into an array, CHARLOGXOR if I want to
complement a bit such as alphabetic case or meta in a character,
CHARASSQ if I want to look one up in an a-list, maybe even CHARFUNCALL
if I want to pass one as an argument?
Isn't all this an entirely excessive amount of mechanism for a partial
solution to a very small part of the problems encountered when
transporting between systems with different environmental conventions?
