I'm not opposed to the existance of DIGIT-WEIGHT. But the situation is not
really analogous to CAR/CDR. CAR/CDR are used in a much less constrained
manner than DIGIT-WEIGHT would be. I have yet to see any examples where it
would be used at ALL other than to implement or duplicate INPUT-FIXNUM.
