The schedule sounds good to me. Our experience with the Lisp Machine
system has shown that this sort of staggered change is very helpful in
making the switchover. In order to make it really work, what would
happen is that during the transition period, we would change all our
code so that (in addition to doing the obvious things), all slashes were
quoted by backslashes. This will work during the interim period, and
after the change is complete, we will merely have some quoted characters
that do not really need to be quoted, which is OK. (We can take them
out at our leisure, or just forget about them.)
