I don't know what more I can say about issue QUOTE-SEMANTICS -- it seems like we've already beaten it to death. I guess people decided that freeing COMPILE and EVAL from restrictions on what kinds of objects can appear as constants was more important to them than maintaining consistency with file compilation. -Sandra -------
