ftp between symbolics and macintoshes

good morning -- i need some help transferring files between our macs and our
symbolices via our kinetics fast path...i've tried ncsa telnet (which kinetics
supplied with the fast path), to no avail (it hangs when the mac tries to open
the data connection, but it doesn't have any trouble opening the telnet connec-
tion in either direction)...thanks in advance for your help...cheers -- mike

ps, just in case more detail would help some one help me, here are some exam-
ples of how it fails...(in every case i've looked at, monitoring the control
connection makes things look ok until it tries to open the data connection)...
  o when the symbolics issues a STOR command, the control connection closes
    (there is a PORT 192,12,94,2,4,9 command leading up to that, and the port
    is left listening; on the mac side, i get a zero-length file with the right
    name);
  o when the symbolics issues an NLST command, the mac sends back a 150 Opening
    connection response and hangs (there is a PORT 192,12,94,2,4,34 command
    leading up to that, and the corresponding port is left in the passive
    listening state);
  o and finally, when the symbolics issues a RETR command, the mac sends back a
    150 Opening connection response and hangs (there is a preceding PORT
    ,12,94,2,4,41 command, and i didn't check the state of the port)...
