    If this is the same hack I've seen, it's ancient and doesn't even compile in
    the current (7.2 or later) system, because the file system interfaces have
    changed.  But I may be wrong; if there is a current version of this particular
    hack, I'd like to know about it.

A quick note: the code I reported as available on CS.ROCHESTER.EDU we are
running just fine under 7.2 on our Symbolics (w/ECO tape 1), and on release
4.1 on the Explorer side (with later patches, but it ran fine before that
too).
