E-mail between Symbolics and VAX.

We have Symbolics and Vaxen (connected via ethernet).  One of the Vaxen
speaks smtp via internet.  I would like to be able to send mail back and
forth between the two types of machines but it seems there needs to be a
magic incantation of address quoting somehow.  I just can't get it
right.  Could someone please enlighten me as to how one addresses mail
to go from a Vax to a Symbolics and from a Symbolics to a Vax?
