domain patches anyone?

Is anyone else really using the domain system with say the mail system,
and finding that it breaks much too often for things that admittedly
violations of protocol, but nevertheless are common on the internet?

I have complained about this for > 18 months, and no fixes are in sight.

Any slug people fixed any of the bugs, like for instance, the one that
prevents a host from being recognised when the A info is present, but no
HINFO or WKS records exist?

be intereste in folks experience.  Or have people given up and gone to
UNIX mailers/domain servers....
