VT100 emulation

We have an open problem on this with symbolics, but I haven't 
heard from them in a while so here goes:

Occasionally we do a SELECT-T to login to a remote unix machine
and sometimes it is convenient to edit files using VI. The 
problem is that even after selecting the appropriate emulation from
the symbolics side (using the network key and defining a 
terminal simulator type of vt100) and logging in and setting term=vt100
we have problems within VI. Scrolling does not work well and
the line length remains fixed at around 20.  

Does anyone have a terminfo entry for the symbolics or other
suggestions...Customer support has spent some time on it but they
admit that it isn't a high priority to fix bugs in their vt100
emulation so any workaround would be eagerly welcomed.
