For information about getting hosts on different subnets to talk to each other, I think you want to read page 10 of "Symbolics IP/TCP Software Package", in the section "Registering Internet Gateways in the Namespace". It explains that you need a gateway host, and about making a GATEWAY IP INTERNET-GATEWAY service entry in the namespace.
