Am earlier thread refered to problems using a MacIvory with a CD-ROM player
as the system files host for Genera 8.1. That left me wondering whether
there are CD-ROM players for the old 36XX machines and, if so, whether the
	same problem exists with them?

No, there are no CD-ROM players for 36xx machines, nor are there likely
ever to be any. Symbolics doesn't appear to be interested in designing
new Lbus interface boards, and I can hardly blame them.
[Historical point]
Especially since there were at least two internal LBUS boards with SCSI on them
designed, tested but cancelled before they ever became products (in addition to
one by an outside ex-Symbolean).
[end Historical point]

If you REALLY want CD Rom on a 36xx, you could buy a Multibus <-> SCSI interface
and plug it into a G-bus. (But you'd really have to want it pretty badly. I
used exactly this approach on one consulting contract, so I know it can be made
to work.)
