Request for Speculation: Why No ZMail X Client? (?ever?)

Any informed opinion as to why ZMail can't run as an X Client?  I'd
guessed that it might get fixed in 8.1.1, but I don't see anything in
the release notes.  Any prospects?

Perhaps nobody else considers this a priority.  For me, if it weren't
for this gap, I could move the console out of my office.  (Of course, I
might have come to rely on that extra bit of low-freq radiation to make
it through the day.)
