:label option to menu-choose

I am using Franz Allegro 3.1.13 and CLIM 0.9 to begin
converting a Symbolics dynamic windows user interface
to CLIM.  Apparently, the :label option to menu-choose
does not produce a menu label under Allegro (ILA Reference
Manual, 24 Aug 90: "Not all CLIM implementations may 
provide such a label").  What is the implementation
independent way in CLIM to "pop-up" a menu to the user
asking a question (which becomes the label) and having 
the user provide an answer with a mouse click, ala 
tv:menu-choose?
