Many thanks for your enlightening trials. I've reached the "same"
conclusion - except what I did was a "cheat". I loaded the compiled
system, opened the file with the offending definitions in them and
re-evaluated the definitions in the editor. This I believe is the
same as your eval-when construct, roughly speaking. Everything worked
after that.

Would CLIM 1.9 as I outlined in a recent flame, delivered more or less
now be a good thing? And full CLIM 2 asap, but realizing this could be
months?
