:MULTIPLE-WINDOW option on mouse tracking operators

CLIM 2.0-beta on LispWorks 3.2
CLIM 2.0 on Allegro CL 4.2

CLIM documentation mentions the :MULTIPLE-WINDOW option on:

CLIM:TRACKING-POINTER

CLIM:DRAG-OUTPUT-RECORD

CLIM:DRAGGING-OUTPUT

CLIM:POINTER-PLACE-RUBBER-BAND-LINE*

CLIM:POINTER-INPUT-RECTANGLE*

In the attached sample program, though, only CLIM:TRACKING-POINTER
seems to actually operate successfully across pane boundaries. Am I
misunderstanding or misapplying this feature, or has it basically been
dropped from CLIM?

Ironically, the mouse tracking operation for which pane-crossing would
be of most obvious use to me is probably
CLIM:DEFINE-DRAG-AND-DROP-TRANSLATOR, but the latter does not
advertise a :MULTIPLE-WINDOW option.
