Uncompressing scigraph.tar.Z

I retrieved both Maccompress and Scigraph from cambridge.apple.com.
Unfortunately when I run maccompress (IIfx, 7.1) and try to decompress
scigraph.tar.Z the system hangs (no response to keyboard or mouse input).
Has anyone else successfully decompressed scigraph.tar.Z onto their Mac?
