  My version of the Lisp Machine Manual writes all functions in lower
case and notes that all characters will be translated to upper case.
Why was this done?  If the user typed (|car| '(a b c)) would he
get an undefined function error?

  Regarding EAK recent letter, let me just clear one thing up. RJF has nothing
to do with this discussion.  The code in question was written by Dave Barton.
