The Lisp Machine Manual has function names in lower-case because the old
Maclisp Manual printed them that way, and Dave and I liked the way it
looked in the manual. Personally, I, too, would prefer that the single
case in our single-case system be lower case by default, but I don't
care too much. The Maclisp Manual was presumably that way because
either case works on ITS but only lower case works on Multics, and the
manual applies to both dialects.
