You mentioned compiler error messages. Well, since a very common
way of calling the compiler is COMPILE-BUFFER in the text
editor, and since the lisp code in the text editor is
represented in a special way which includes the vertical and
horizontal position of every token, it possible for errors
to be flagged by drawing red-lines around problem code,
just like the nuns used to do to papers we wrote in elementary
school. When people have the hardware and software to do
these kinds of things, they don't worry too much about the
added dimension of case in symbol print-names.
