Physical Screen Sizes

What determines the physical screen sizes of the various
Symbolics platforms?  We even have different screen sizes
for two XL400's which were purchased a few months apart.

This presents a problem in that some users use a multiplier
of 3 (as opposed to 2) for screen dumps to use the entire
sheet as opposed to part. This worked recently until one user
migrated to a different 3653 cpu. At that point his screen
dumps could not be contained on the paper.  When looking into
the reason why he found that the new 3653 had a larger screen
which seems to prevent him from getting the larger screen dumps.
