Networking Macintosh and Symbolics systems

Some Symbolics animation customer sites have been having problems
setting up file transfer capability between Macintosh and Symbolics
systems. These sites usually have artists who do not have a clue about
networks or installing and configuring software. I am therfore looking
for a network software package for the Mac that will allow Macintosh
users to perform file operations between the Mac and the Symbolics
system just like they do between Macs currently, and Symbolics users to
be able to perform file operations between the Mac and the Symbolics
system just like they do between Symbolics systems.

The key phases here are "simple to use" and "little or no training
    needed". Any suggestions?

What you need is a networking package that will act as a FTP server. I have not
found any that perform reliably. I use two packages right now:

(1) Novell Netware (Lanplace) for the Mac
(2) XferIt under MacTCP

Both of these packages can initiate a FTP/Telnet connection but neither works
as a server. Neither are simple to setup and use.

I have been told that there is a version NCSA Telnet for the Mac that works
but I have no personal experience with it. I would like to know if anyone
has found any reliable server software.

BTW. I have worked with PC/TCP for PC's and it works like a champ.
