scaling problem

There are two ways to specify reference points for text in CLIM.

(1) Relative to the cursor position; the cursor position is part of the
state of the stream;

(2) Absolute in the extant graphics coordinate system.

For text positions to scale they must be in (2).  Use DRAW-TEXT*.
