Now that is the second constructive piece of discussion, among all the
complaining, I've heard.
There is precedence for such a thing from Sun Microsystems. When they
abandoned Sun Common Lisp, (which, of course was lucid) they also abandoned
a lisp-based window system call LispView. They put all the sources in the
public domain and we continue to use (and fix) that package to this day.
